11th Meeting of the COMSATS Coordinating Council, Beijing, China, 24-26 June 2008
The 11th Meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) has been scheduled from 24th June till 26th June, 2008, at Beijing, China. The International Centre of Climate & Environmental Sciences (ICCES), Beijing, China, is graciously holding this event.
The COMSATS Coordinating Council comprises the Heads of the COMSATS’ International Science and Technology Centres of Excellence. These are 14 in number and represent wide spectrum of scientific & technological areas.
Prof. M. H. A. Hassan who is the Executive Director, TWAS, as well as the Secretary General, TWNSO, shall chair the meeting. This meeting is important as past activities of the network will be reviewed and imperative matters of technical activities and programmes for the year 2008- 2009 will be discussed and decided. Financial and budgetary matters of the network are also due to be reviewed in this meeting.

The Coordinating Council Meeting is an annual event and has special significance as it helps strengthen the Network of the International Science and Technology Centres of Excellence for Sustainable Development in the South. The meeting paves way for creating avenues for international cooperation and to devise science and technology based solutions for the pressing developmental problems of the third-world.
