Research and Development
| Awarding contracts for viable research
and development is an important activity within the COMSATS
ambit. The principle followed is to go for applied or adaptive
research proposals, having a clear potential for commercialisation
and proven usefulness for solving complex industrial and socio-economic
problems. The latest project that aimed at testing applications
of tissue-culture technology for producing disease-resistant
and high-yielding potato seeds, was undertaken in collaboration
with National Agricultural Research Centre, Pakistan (NARC).
Besides successful testing of the technology, COMSATS assistance
in the form of equipment, material, supplies, labour, etc.,
has contributed greatly towards strengthening of NARC's Laboratory
facilities, technical capacity and resources. |
