The first 5-year strategic plan for COMSATS is being developed for a more focused and organized future line of action. The plan would include need-driven & country-specific programmes, in line with national and regional developmental priorities. It is envisioned that besides strengthening the current programmes, COMSATS would launch itself into the emerging areas of:

• Agriculture and Biotechnology
• Natural Products
• Climate Change and Environmental Protection
• Material Sciences
• Mathematical Modelling
• Capacity Building
