Visit to France and Germany: Step towards North-South Collaboration
Dr. Hameed Ahmed Khan, the Executive Director, COMSATS, under took a visit to France and Germany from 8th March to 19th March, 2007, to explore new avenues for scientific collaboration, for larger interest of the COMSATS member-countries under its North-South collaboration program. He in particular visited UNESCO Headquarters and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in France, and the Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany.
Dr. Khan’s visit to UNESCO Headquarters resulted in the acceptance of one of the regional project by UNESCO for technical cooperation between COMSATS member-countries (Pakistan, China, Syria, Egypt and Sudan). Various matters were discussed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France for strengthening socio-economic status of the developing countries through innovative use of new technologies and initiation of new scientific projects. In the second leg of his visit, Dr. Khan met Prof. Dr. Hartmut Fuess and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Ensinger of the Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany, and presented COMSATS activities for sharing experiences for stronger networking and cooperation between the two organizations. |
