Honour for Executive Director COMSATS

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has awarded the ISESCO Science Prize to Dr. Hameed Ahmed Khan, Executive Director of COMSATS, in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the field of physics. This prestigious award is given every three years to an eminent scientist. On receiving this prize Dr. Khan has also been declared the ‘ISESCO Science Laureate’.

Dr. Hameed Ahmed Khan has rendered meritorious services to Pakistan during the last four decades in the areas of research and scientific administration and has to his credit around 530 publications, mostly in the international journals of repute. In recognition of Dr. Khan’s quality work in science, the Government of Pakistan has conferred on him Hilal-i-Imtiaz (1999) and Sitara-i-Imtiaz (1984). He is the fellow and member of several international and national learned scientific societies. In 2003, he was given the status of Scientist Emeritus by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PEAC).

Since the year 2000, Dr. Khan is heading 21-member states international organization, COMSATS – the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South – which is making significant contributions to the uplift of COMSATS’ developing member states. Dr. Khan’s award from ISESCO will further enhance and strengthen the role and contribution of Pakistan and ISESCO in the socio-economic development of the Muslim Ummah.
