COMSATS and IROST sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

A high-powered delegation of the COMSATS undertook a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran from the 1st July through the seventh of the same month, 2001, to explore areas of common interests in the field of science and technology. The delegation that was led by Dr. Hameed Ahmed Khan, the Executive Director of COMSATS comprised Mr. Tajammul Hussain - Director Planning, Dr. Muhammad Hanif Zauq - Director CIS, Dr. Moeen Sadiq - Managing Director, Paknet. An important development that took place during the visit was signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the COMSATS and the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST), Iran, on the 4th of July 2001, to jointly work and collaborate for science-based development in the region in the socio-economic field.

The salient features of the MoU included facilitating IROST's scientists through COMSATS so that they can benefit from TWAS and TWNSO programs; conducting joint research projects in applied sciences among COMSATS members and the IROST; exchanging scientists between COMSATS members and the IROST; organizing various joint regional international workshops and conferences during the year 2001.
