Dr. Atta inaugurates COMSATS Institute at Wah Campus

Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, who is also the chancellor of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), officially inaugurated the CIIT Wah Cantt campus on Friday, 14.9.2001

The Federal Minister also distributed the certificates among the successful officers of Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF) Wah who completed their two weeks office automation course from CIIT Wah Campus. Sixty officers of the POF Wah were nominated for the said course and they have successfully completed the same within the required time frame.

According to the CIIT sources, the Wah Campus will not only provide an opportunity to the people to get higher education in the field of IT from a reputed institute at their doorstep but will also provide a leadership role for other institutions of the area to catch-up with the changing environment of this era. COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Wah Cantt Campus, started regular degree classes on Monday.

The CIIT initially offered Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS), Bachelor of Computer Engineering (BCE), Master of Software Engineering (MSE), Master of Business Administration in IT (MBA-IT) and MBA-IT executive programmes. The CIIT Wah Campus was established within a record time of eight weeks under the dynamic leadership of the CIIT management. This project was initiated on the direction of Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, Federal Minister for Science and Technology and Chancellor of the CIIT and on the personal interest of Chairman POF Board, Lt. Gen. Abdul Qayyum.

It has registered around 108 students from Wah Cantt and surrounding area of its different degree programme. The institute has already hired the services of qualified faculty members from foreign and local institutions of higher learning. The CIIT Wah Campus is located at main Mall Road and has two state-of-the art computer labs, a well-stocked library and well-equipped classrooms. The CIIT Wah Campus has also established an IT solution wing to facilitate the industry and other business sin automation, web designing, software development and networking.
